The Star of the North
Our chapter’s name comes from Minnesota’s nickname, The North Star State, derived from the state motto L’Etoile du Nord (“Star of the North”). Known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, Minnesota boasts diverse geography—from freshwater lakes and rolling plains to verdant farmland and winding rivers.
Minnesota’s changing seasons provide the perfect backdrop for our passion for BMWs. Enthusiasts across the state embrace each season—enjoying spring drives, summer adventures, fall colors, and a winter filled with motorsports and social gatherings.
As winter fades and spring warms the air, North Star Chapter members eagerly bring out their BMWs for a drive—often joining one of Tom’s popular tours.
From spring through fall, Tom and his wife Debbie lead monthly drives across Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin, guiding members along scenic, winding backroads to fun and memorable destinations.

Minnesotans are experts at winter driving. For teens just learning, our Tire Rack Street Survival Schools build confidence and skill handling any vehicle in challenging, icy conditions.
