We will be at BIR Friday, June 3rd through Sunday, June 5th, 2016.  We have reserved the Competition Track (i.e. short course) all weekend.  Saturday & Sunday is our standard school for students (Saturday-only option offered as well).  Friday is an instructor/advanced student driving day.

Safety Helmet Requirement

Please note: In order to drive in this event, you will be required to wear a helmet.  We require a Snell SA2005 rating or better for your safety on the track.  Upon registration, your helmet will be inspected for the proper rating as well as to make sure it is in a safe condition.

Friday Instructor/Advanced Student Driving Day

On Friday we will have track time for instructors and advanced students.  Instructor session passing rules allow passing anywhere on the track as long as the vehicle in front of you gives you the point by.  If you are an advanced student who has not yet driven with us on our Friday driving days and would like to join then please contact our Chief Driving Instructor, Tyler Arvig, or our Driving Events Coordinator, Tim Oudin, for approval.

Saturday/Sunday Driving School

The weekend driving school is open to all experience levels, BMW & non-BMW makes.  Our club has years of expertise in offering safe, educational, fun experiences at the track.  We teach everything from the basics to the finer points of performance driving.  You will be on the track with an experienced, knowledgeable instructor that will customize the school for your background and preferences.  Convertibles, t-tops, targas, trucks, vans, and SUVs are not allowed.  Specific SAVs such as BMW X3, X5, X6, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7, etc. may be allowed with approval from the Chief Driving Instructor or Driving Events Coordinator.

The basic 2-day school cost is $350.  Other package options, including a 3-day combo drive for approved drivers, are available at time of registration.  Contact the Driving Events Coordinator with any questions!

Tech Inspection

Each car you plan to drive on the track will require a BIR pre-event tech inspection.  Our sponsor, Motorwerks BMW, has offered a complimentary technical inspection for vehicles of all makes and models for registered students.  We know that our members drive all makes and models, and for that reason, we do not restrict where you can have your car inspected.  All drivers must have their car(s) tech inspected in advance of the event and bring a completed tech form with them to BIR.  Our sponsor will also be providing track-side support at the event; a huge THANK YOU to them for their support!

Location: Motorwerks BMW

Date and Time: May 10th, 5:30 - 8:00 PM

Address: 1300 American Blvd W., Bloomington, MN  55420

Phone: (952) 888-2700

We will be staying at the Comfort Inn & Suites Rapid River Lodge in Baxter.  Our group rate is $119 per night.  When making your reservation, mention that you are with the "BMW club".  The block of rooms for the club is reserved; book now before the summer vacation rush.  The Comfort Inn & Suites can be reached at 218-825-7234.

Attendee Dinner

For our Saturday night dinner, we will be enjoying the gourmet fare from Prairie Bay Restaurant once again.  Choose your entrée at the time of registration!  The cost is $35 per person.

Volunteering

This event is entirely volunteers driven and we are always looking for additional help to keep weekend running smoothly and safely for all!  Duties would include helping out at the registration table on Friday night/Saturday morning, assisting with school support activities in the morning, etc.  Volunteers may receive instructor rides on the track and our sincere thanks!  Please contact drivingschools@northstarbmw.org with interest in helping out.  This club is based on volunteers, and we could not pull off quality events without them!

Thanks for your time and hope you join us at BIR!
