Experience A Special Screening of The New BMW Film With Its Creators!
You’re invited to a very special screening of the new BMW Film “The Escape” at a spectacular venue: The beautifully restored, historic Heights Theater. “The Escape” is an action-packed salute to the Fifteenth Anniversary of the groundbreaking BMW Films. Created in 2001, the original eight short films starred Clive Owen as a mysterious driver for hire and featured a who’s who of top Hollywood directors and actors.
Presenting the new film will be its Executive Producer, Bruce Bildsten. Bruce led the team who created of the original films at the legendary Minneapolis ad agency Fallon in 2001 and was invited by BMW, along with former Fallon Producer Brian DiLorenzo, to create the big budget new film. Joining them will be Minneapolis director Patrick Pierson who filmed all the behind the scenes of the massive production. Bruce will not only share the new film on the big screen, but also revisit a few of the originals, as well as share behind the scenes content.
“The Escape” stars Clive Owen along with Jon Bernthal, Dakota Fanning and Vera Farmiga. Directed by Oscar-nominated director Neill Blomkamp, the stunts were coordinated the legendary Guy Norris. Like Norris’ “Mad Max: Fury Road”, “The Escape’s” extraordinary stunts were created with minimal special effects. And all of Owen’s driving was done by the Chief Driving Instructor at BMW’s Performance Driving School, Matt Mullins.
It will be an evening of BMW at its very best in a very special venue. Don’t miss it.
We will be meeting at The Heights Theater at 7pm, March 23 from 7 to 9pm. The event is free and open to everyone. It would be helpful, but not necessary, to express your intention to attend on our Face Book page at: https://www.facebook.com/northstarbmw/
More information on The Heights is available at: http://www.heightstheater.com/ It is a great area with ethnic restaurants and bars if you decide to make an evening of it.

The North Star Chapter is excited to offer our members the second opportunity to avail of a BMW CCA M Day at the Performance Center in Greer, South Carolina! This is a unique event tailored to BMW CCA Chapters using the Performance Center’s superb range of M cars, which includes the new M2 as well as the M3, M4 and M5. There will be classroom instruction followed by various in-car activities with the Center’s exceptional instructors. In-car activities include skid pad, driving dynamics on special handling courses and timed competition events. No helmets or previous driving school experience is required. The program runs from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm and includes instruction in current model M cars, lunch and gift bags.
The North Star Chapter has secured Saturday, October 15th, 2016 for this unmissable opportunity. We are also working with BMW to organize a tour of BMW Zentrum (museum) and the Spartanburg manufacturing plant on Friday, October 14th. This will be confirmed when BMW finalizes tour schedules in August.
The event itself will cost $690 per person and is based on 32 participants. This represents an exceptional discount for a Performance Center event and to qualify, the Chapter needs 32 participants registered by August 6th, 2016. To ensure commitment, the Chapter requires that the event fee be paid in full at the time of registration. Each North Star member is permitted to bring a non-member guest whose fee would be paid by the member through the standard registration process. If the Chapter fails to secure 32 registered participants by August 6th, the event will be canceled and all fees will be refunded in full.
Travel arrangements to/from South Carolina in addition to food and lodging will be the responsibility of the individual participant. It is recommended to plan for at least a two night stay to maximize enjoyment of the event and to spend some time with your fellow North Star enthusiasts in the Greenville area.
As you consider participating in this amazing weekend event, please help us spread the word by networking with your fellow North Star enthusiasts. Again, we need 32 participants to make this happen. It is also important to remember that the Performance Center is providing the M cars, tires and gas for the day!!
